Biography, Education and Training

Veronica graduated from UCSC in 2014 with a double major in psychology and feminist studies. She then received her master's in applied developmental psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she studied gender role attitudes, gender differences in ethnic identity development, and adolescent attitudes about police. As a social psychology student, she is interested in the experiences of objectification and dehumanization of low-wage workers in food service and retail.

Rent Burden: 70% (what’s this?)

Graduate students at UC Santa Cruz face severe rent burden, often spending over 50% of our income on housing. We are precarious, but we are indispensable.

I work between 40 and 80 hours a week on labor that contributes to the mission of our university but am not paid enough to live in Santa Cruz. Like most graduate students, I have taken on additional work, including as a ziplining tour guide, to try to make ends meet.

I stand in solidarity with the COLA campaign.
