Miguel A Lopezzi is a social scientist and PhD student in social psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). He has served on the UCSC’s Campus Conduct Board and hiring committee, and mentors high school students through the Science Internship Program (SIP). Lopezzi’s primary research focuses on the masculinity socialization of young men through highschool and university competitive sports participation. Furthermore, he focuses on how qualitative research methods can help us to better understand how young men conceptualize masculinity and manhood. Miguel's other line of research is on service-learning pedagogy and student outcomes. Lopezzi earned his Master's degree in social psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz and is currently working on his Doctoral degree. He is a McNair Scholar recipient who graduated from California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in criminal justice, with honors. In his free time, Miguel enjoys watching documentary films, taking care of his plants, and spending time with his family.
